Alice category:

Judges Comments: Some truly wonderful sculpts in this category, including some rather rather saucier studies than Dodgson and Tenniel might have approved! It was really tough to choose just the one winner even after shunting several sculpts featuring Alice into other categories, and the top three were very close indeed.

The Winners:

#1 Alice and the White Rabbit - Kev White
#2 Alice and the Cheshire Cat - Kev White
#3 Alice - The Tartan Spartan

Kev White's "Alice and the Cheshire Cat"

"It was a close thing for the top spot and this more traditional Alice got the nod from several judges but was just pipped. Its a lovely design, with Kev's usual high standard of attention to pose and putty work. The cat is incredible and will be a joy to paint. Luckily Kev will be selling the figure through Hasslefree, so noone need miss out."

Sturmhalo says 'Besides Kev's usual high quality work, I really liked the Cheshire Cat. Full of character. A good un to paint me thinks!'

Fatgoblin's "Alice in Wonderbraland"

"Nice concept, though its only really the amusing title that makes it an Alice sculpt. The putty work is very good, but the pose an proportions let it down. A well sculpted face, perhaps the pouting lower lip is a little too exaggerated, its the lower half that needs some more attention (so to speak). Very angular hips and too short and straight legs - obviously not a leg man eh?"

Kev White's "Alice and the White Rabbit"

"Fabulous, as far away from the Alice of the book as she could be, but…having been messed around a little too long, Alice finely takes control. Good movement and facial expression, expert touch with the putty and details like the toy rabbit with bullet wound add enormous character to the piece. "

Tom Meier says 'Alice and the White Rabbit’ gets top choice for being a bit more technically sophisticated, imaginative and having good characterization.'

Tartan Spartan's "Alice"

"A great figure that could have won on another day. Very clean, sharp sculpt, fantastic detail in the anime inspired schoolgirl outfit. Theres a lack of dynamism but the posing and anatomy are excellent and it should be fun to paint. We'll be casting this in the second set, since Kev will be running off his second piece himself anyway."

Uncle Pete says 'Japanese schoolgirls and frilly knix, where do we get these people?'

M-H. Kao's "After the Show: Alice and White Rabbit"

"Another unconventional entry, but with a more solid link to the theme. The rabbit is definitely the star of this set, nice detailing of the hat and ears and plenty of character, with anatomy and putty work approaching pro standard. Alice is good but needs a little more attention on anatomy and a bit of the energy from the other fig."
